Welcome to the Interactive Cybernetics website.

It is here that Interactive Cybernetics will chronicle the process of achieving (or not achieving) the goals of our mission statement: to build an interactive humanoid robot that is accepted by human beings as assistant, as an instructor, or as a companion.

In these pages, we will discuss the challenges of this undertaking, and will publish our failures as well as our successes.

We have already constructed a series of machines which we have named Research Experiment, or REX machines. Each REX generation is incrementally better than the previous generation. You can view the evolution of REX to see our progress.

We have created sections of this site to provide specific information about our work in the general areas of Vision, Speech Recognition, Speech Generation, Lip Sync, Emotions, Body Language, Animation, Hardware, Silicone, and the ICREX Scripting Language.

We would like to make browsing this site like visiting us in our workshop. You can read about our most recent progress, contribute your comments and suggestions, or watch a video clip of REX entertaining customers at a trade show.

We encourage you to send feedback (positive or negative) about your reaction to the current REX model.

Like REX, this site will be evolving over time. Please check back periodically and see the Latest section for the most recent information, news, or comments.

You can now interact with REX on-line
REX 6 appeared at the Relational Bus Systems (RBS) booth for the Motor Coach 2007 show in New Orleans January 17-19. The show was used as an educational experience for the REX developers. By observing REX interaction with the show attendees, we will further enhance REX abilities. You can see the new video of REX 6 on the demos page.
